What are some tips for improving my workplace and expanding my firm?

First, recognize your strengths and weaknesses and focus on building up your strengths. Rather than trying to overcome your weaknesses, look for those in your firm who are great at the things you’re not so good at and delegate the responsibility for those things to them. Then focus on getting better at the things you are already great at. Also, find out which things your employees don’t want to do and assign those tasks to people who do want to do them.

When delegating to others, give instructions and deadlines and expect accountability. Be open and expect yourself and your employees to make mistakes. Never criticize your staff for making a mistake. Understanding and accepting mistakes is part of the process of delegation.

When everyone on your team enjoys what they do, they will be more productive. When you and your staff are doing this, you will have more time for your clients and you will have more clients because you are more productive and you are doing the things you want to do.

Your clients can tell if you love or hate what you are doing. When your staff loves what they are doing, they will love coming to work and you will see decreased turnover and their interaction with clients will be better. When you are doing what you love to do, then your staff can do what they love to do and your firm can better help your clients do what they love to do.
